Applying for scholarships can feel overwhelming, and one of the most intimidating steps for many students is asking for a letter of recommendation.

Don’t worry—you’re not alone! The good news is, we’ve made it easier by creating a template you can use when reaching out to teachers, mentors, coaches, or employers.

Tips Before You Ask

  • Choose wisely: Pick recommenders who know you well and can speak to your strengths.
  • Ask early: Give your recommender at least 2–3 weeks before the deadline.
  • Be clear: Share the scholarship name, deadline, and submission instructions.
  • Be polite: Always thank your recommender, whether they say yes or no
